Our Weekend

Andrew and Daddy having lunch at Baker's Sweets

Gavin has turned into a little piggy this week. Here's what he's been eating (and yes, he finished all of these plates in addition to eating his veggies and jook!):
- Spinach -
- Pasta with tomatoes and sausage -
- Gimbop and tofu jiggae! Yummy! -

I love sleeping babies. I think they look like little angels.

Gavin's got an etch a sketch. It keeps him so occupied in the car. I love it!

This was one of the first times I've used the bouncy seat with batteries. Andrew was shocked to see the lights and animals moving!
Here's Gavin showing Andrew how to use the bouncy seat. He's so helpful!

Happy Four Month Birthday to my Andrew!

We can't believe it's been four months since Andrew has come into our lives. We thought there was no way we could lucky twice and have another angel, but alas! We did! What Andrew has been up to during his four short months with us!
  • Barely ever cries. Seriously. But when he does, watch out - it's LOUD!
  • LOVES to stand. If he gets fussy, just stand him up and he'll start to laugh.
  • Sucks his middle two fingers on his left hand. Just like his brother, he won't take a pacifier.
  • Sticks his tongue out when he smiles.
  • Has the voice of a man. Well, not really but you can hear him from across the house when he's talking and he loves to talk. A lot.
  • Goes to bed between 8pm - 9pm and sleeps through until 6am-6:30am AND he's been doing it since he was 5 weeks old! I'm lucky, lucky, lucky. I know!
  • Hates tummy time unless you face him so he can watch TV while doing it. Such a man.
  • Loves bath time. He 'talks' the entire time.
  • Cracks up when you dress him. He thinks it's funny when you pull a shirt over his head.
  • Is a crazy sleeper. He busts out of his sleep positioner so we've given up on them and let him go wild in his crib.
  • An absolute joy to have in our lives and such a good son and brother!!!

Here's a little bit of what Gavin has been up to:

We're not exactly potty training yet but Gavin tells us when he has to go 'pee-pee' so we put him on the toilet and we sit there and wait for him to do his business. Unfortunately, this time usually consists of a lot of coaxing and no result. However as soon as we take him off of the toilet and throw a diaper on him, he goes! Argh!

We had one of Brett's co-workers over for dinner this past weekend and Gavin made a new friend...
Laela giving Gavin a hug and...
Gavin giving Laela a kiss. Yes, Gavin thinks giving a kiss is offering your forehead for a kiss. I've been trying to teach him to give only his mommy a kiss on the lips but he thinks this is hilarious.

And just because, here's Moose on our porch waiting to eat his leftover steak. He won't eat until we tell him "Take it" and we didn't tell him to "Take it" for about 5 minutes. Hahaha. Good dog.

Guess Who's Rolling?

One week short of his 4 month birthday, Andrew is rolling from back to front! Luckily for you all I was able to capture this momentous occasion and here are the pictures ...

This was when I realized he was going to flop onto his belly so I grabbed the camera and started clicking away.

Different angle. His right arm was in the way for a while.

"Yo Mom! This is how I roll!" Check out that cleavage!

I put Noah's Ark in front of him for a little temptation.

Almost there

Success! Yippeee!

Brothers!

Andrew says, "Ummm, brother can you please get off my back?"

This is the essence of Gavin. Dancing in circles!

Andrew is happy that Gavin has finally left him alone!

My cutie pie in his last day of school outfit.

Gavin loves to sit in our hamper.
Or lay in it ...
Gavin and his "Royal Bag" backpack! Hehehe.
Gavin on his way to school.

What's Gavin eating?
Cereal .... ON HIS OWN!

Andrew taking his bath

I had to add the star to contain Andrew's modesty. We didn't want to shame the other babies out there.

Week in Review

Gavin attends a local PMO (Parent's Morning Out) where he created this with his very own hands. After reading it I cried the entire drive home! Have I mentioned how much I love my boys???

Cute, semi-naked baby on the couch = great pictures!

Can you find Gavin?

Gavin taking over Andrew's toys AGAIN.

Our Dutch exchange pilot hosts an annual "Queen's Birthday Party" where we all dress up in orange and celebrate the Queen of Netherland's birthday. After looking up a little bit of history on the Netherlands, I see that the queen's name is Beatrix but I'm a bit confused because it shows her sharing my birthday, January 31 ... No where near when we celebrated this past weekend! Oh well. It makes for a great party of good food, great friends, and fighter pilots being thrown into the pool. Fun!
**Brett stayed home with the boys while I went to the party; hence, no pictures of Brett! Also, since 99% of my wardrobe is black, I didn't have anything to wear so I'm wearing orange nail polish which you can kind of see in the last picture!

**Yes, there are naked people all over their walls but keep in mind, they're European!

Bye Halmuni!

A sad, sad day has come to the Rurka household. Halmuni went home to Seattle! Gavin, myself, and Andrew are sure to have withdrawals in these next few days. Tickets from Charlotte to Seattle are only $99 so we drove my mom to Charlotte and went to my favorite shopping center, South Park Mall (it's amazing!) for lunch and a little retail therapy...

Look who's sitting in the stroller!
Gavin running around the South Park Mall.

"Hi Mom!"

My mom chasing Gavin through the mall.

Look at that face ... Gavin after we dropped mom off. So sad. So sad.

On a lighter, cuter note...

Gavin loves to sit in his old walker (which we took out for Andrew) but I needed to clean the seat so I disassembled it and found Gav like this ...
Hahaha! How cute. He plopped himself down where the seat should be and was watching tv.

We put the bumbo down (yet another old toy that we took out for Andrew that Gavin loves) in place of where the real seat should be and he watched tv from there. Funny Gavin.

I am in absolute love with this picture. Here's Gavin wearing Daddy's flight boots. His face is just too much. I love it.
