Playing with Gavin

With only about two weeks and some odd days until we expect Daddy home, Gavin and I have been trying to stay busy. Here are a few pictures from the past week...

Photobucket
Such a boy! Gavin loves the remote. Looks like Daddy and Gavin will have a few issues with this one!

Photobucket
He loves playing in the gym at the YMCA. We usually play 'basketball' everyday after my workout. I have cute video of him carrying the basketballs around but still haven't figured out how to upload it to the blog.

We (Dana, Steve, and I) took the boys to the park on base and let them run around for a bit...

Photobucket
It may not look like it, but they really do love eachother!

Photobucket
Photobucket
Gavin's too skinny to fit into the swing so I had to improvise to make him steady. He had fun for about ten seconds before he started looking grumpy but soooo cute!

Photobucket
Gavin's first time down a slide. I'm not really sure what he thought of it. He didn't really have a reaction!

Past Few Days

Pictures from the past few days!

Grandpa and Halmuni sent a huge box filled with stuffed toys for Gavin. He took a liking to a stuffed bulldog and dragged it around the house all day!

We watched Ryan while his parents went to a squadron function.
This is Gavin consoling Ryan saying, "It's okay! Your mommy and daddy will be back soon!"

After only a few minutes of crying, Ryan and Gavin had a great time playing with toys!

Gavin finally figured out how to sit on his toy truck without my help and can even turn himself around on it!

Dana had her car worked on in Columbia so we packed up the kids and headed west!

Brett keeps asking for a 'real picture (I'm assuming not a belly photo)' so here it is! This is us standing next to our garage - love how I carry Gavin to hide my baby belly??? Too bad I can't carry him around like that all day!

Hahahahahaha. Dana and I are NOT minivan people but the dealership ran out of loaner cars for the day so they rented a minivan for us. We were shocked by the size and convenience of rolling around in a mom mobile. Both of us are actually considering getting one ... but I refuse to get one until I'm in my 30's.

Dana driving her minivan and me sitting in the third row watching Baby Einstein with the boys. She was so excited to drive a minivan - Seriously!

The van even had swivel seats so I could turned Gavin around so he could watch the DVD too!

I think he looks just like Brett in this picture...

Gavin's First Day at Daycare

Gavin started daycare today! He spends a majority of his time with adults and I wanted him to be able to play more with kids his own age so I enrolled him into Archway Academy, a local daycare. He'll be attending most Tuesdays so that I can go to my doctor appointments, get things done around the house, and whatever else I can think of that will be easier to do without having a baby in tow.

The daycare ladies told me that Gavin was perfect except he didn't take a nap and poured water all over his outfit, hence the outfit change. At the end of the day I walked into the toddler room and Gavin stared at me for a second, then screamed, ran to me, and burrowed his face into my legs. What an angel!

Photobucket
Gavin being led away by the daycare lady while I snuck out of the room.

Registering that Mommy had, in fact, come back to pick him up! Apparently he had been dragging around the xylaphone dog all day (the colorful thing on the table). Maybe I'll have to get him one for his upcoming birthday!

Photobucket
Totally passed out on his ride home!

Gavin's second trip to the ER!

I've been attending a 'Boot Camp' held for the wives of our squadron twice a week. Since many of us have kids I always take Gavin and let him run around the pavilion while we work up a sweat. He usually has a great time watching us and occasionally walks in on the action.

Well, last week he got bumped into. I didn't think much of it since he only cried for a brief second so I picked him up and proceeded to work out while carrying him. When I put him down to play with the other kids, I noticed that he couldn't keep his balance and kept falling to the right. I immediately called his doctor who told me to bring him in. The doctor examined Gavin and ordered x-rays. I was so scared but thankfully everything came back normal and I scheduled an appointment to come back in the morning.

We woke up to a huge bruise on the inside of Gavin's knee. He was still wobbly but looked a little better. The doctor said everything is normal and what happened is that when Gavin fell over he was likely stepped on!!! By Friday afternoon, Gavin was walking completely normally and the bruise is now 100% gone! My brave little man, imagine someone 7x's your weight stepping on your knee. I know I'd cry A LOT more than Gavin did.

Photobucket
Always happy! Waiting to get his x-rays...

Photobucket
The x-ray table. Since I'm pregnant, I had to stand behind a lead wall.

Photobucket
Gavin's x-ray. Can you see his chubby little butt? So cute!

20 week belly picture

YIKES!

Photobucket
This is last week at 20 weeks. Definitely showing...

Little Rurka has been moving around like a maniac, I finally saw my belly move today (9/15) and Gavin loves to pound on my inflated stomach when I lay down. Life is good!

Here is a picture from just 16 short months ago at 20 weeks pregnant with Gavin (at my parent's house in Seattle. How I miss the west coast!). I've gained the same amount of weight but am showing so much more quickly! I wonder what the next 19 weeks will be like...

September Happenings

Finally September is here and we can finally say "See you next month!" to Brett. We are so excited that the weeks until he returns is in the single digits. I can't wait for him to see how much Gavin has grown since he's been gone!!!

Here are a few pictures I've taken of our Gavin this past week. Once again, shield your eyes if you don't want to be blinded by cuteness...

Aside from the steps leading to our bonus room, I have yet to purchase baby gates for the house. I had been using chairs to keep Gavin from going into the foyer and dining rooms. This worked for about a month before Gavin realized he could try and sneak behind the chairs...
Photobucket
This is a picture catching him being 'sneaky' and trying to escape from the living room. Since this picture had been taken, I've allowed Gavin to run free in the house, but keep the doors to the bathrooms and bedrooms closed.
Photobucket

I like to let Gavin play in the yard for a few minutes each day. He loves running up and down the driveway.
Photobucket
Photobucket
I had to put Gavin in the grass and once I did, he didn't move! I have no clue where his aversion to grass comes from...
Photobucket

This day we were playing outside when the sprinklers went off! Gavin loved it and laughed the whole time.
Photobucket
Photobucket

Here's Gavin hanging out on our bed. He loves watching Blues Clues, the Wiggles, and Pinky Winky Doo on our television every morning.
Photobucket

What a helper! This, in addition to my watering can, have become some of Gavin's favorite toys. Nevermind that I just spent $50.00 on ONE toy, he enjoys these cheap household items WAAAAY more!
Photobucket

And just because it's been a looong time since I've posted or taken a picture of Moose, here he is...
Photobucket

Another milestone - Gavin transitioned to sippy cups this past week! I wanted to get him off of bottles by his year birthday so this past week we went cold turkey and switched to his sippies. It was hard at first because he hardly drank for an entire day, but by the second and third days, he was drinking most, if not all, of his cups! I'm so happy to not have to clean bottles - at least for the next four to five months :).
